This page provides introduction and review of Sipgate VOIP, find out the review service and price compare to other providers.

Introduction:

sipgate is a revolutionary phone service, full of features and extremely easy to set up and use.

Review by the3rdParty from 26ºS 32:

This is a fairly comprehensive residencial pay as you go VoIP that

has some good features in the basic package. You need to buy / bring

your own device or soft phone, although they will sell you a variety

of preconfigured units.

Points for:

- Sipgate uses a variety of narrow and boradband codecs, including

iLBC. This is by far the best codec for someone with a poor quality

(high packet loss) internet connection.

- You get voice mail (with a message waiting indicator service,

should your ATA support this) for free. You can set your own

greeting message, even on the basic package;

- You get a REAL UK phone number in a local exchange of your choice.

Incoming calls at $0/min!

- No set up or monthly fee - ie all of the above is free

- Payments via ccard or paypal. Straightforward.

- They will send you an invoice for payments made, making it more

attarctive for business use.

- Tech support good (fast, effective)

- The webpage has a nice feature whereby you can see a call you made

sometime back and clicking on that call cause your SIP phone to ring,

and then (when that is picked up) the called number to ring. With

care, you can use this as a cheap callback service - especially

useful when the SIP phone is in a country that would be an expesive

destination to call and you are in the UK / US.

Points against:

- You need to be in the UK in order to sign up, or use a proxy to

fool their system that you are in the UK. However having signed up

you can then take the service anywhere in the world.

- The outgoing rates are not that competitive, but this should be

offset against the free incomimg and free UK number. ie it is fine

for low outgoing useage. If you need lots of outgoing minutes / mth

much better outbound deals can be found elsewhere.
